O REGIONÁLNYCH TRHOCH PRÁCE, NOVÝCH KRAJOCH A TOKOCH NEZAMESTNANÝCH

A. Bezák: On regional labour markets, new administrative regions and unemployment flows. Geografický časopis, 53, 2001, 4, 1 tab., 30 refs.

The aim of this paper is to discuss some relevant questions associated with geographical research focusing on the spatial dimensions of unemployment in Slovakia. In the first place, attention is given to both conceptualisation and operational definition of regional labour markets. Then, the labour market status of new administrative regions in Slovakia is analysed. Finally, the limitations of these regions for use in the analysis of spatial variations in unemployment are carefully examined.

Key words: regional labour markets, spatial dimensions of unemployment, administrative regions, Slovakia

PRÍSPEVOK K TYPIZÁCII STREDÍSK CESTOVNÉHO RUCHU

P. Mariot: Contribution to the typification of the tourist resorts. Geografický časopis, 53, 2001, 4, 3 figs., 15 refs.

This study presents several variants of typification of the tourist resorts. It is based on the generally used typification of K. Kulinat. Special attention is given to the issue of hierarchic criteria leaning on the works of P. Mariot. Examples of additional typification of tourist resorts in the Slovakia, which can be found in the atlases of the Slovak Republic and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic are analysed. Finally it is stressed that typification of tourist resorts still needs elaboration of conceptual and methodological principles.

Key words: typology of tourist resorts, geography of tourism, Slovakia

NIEKTORÉ ASPEKTY TVORBY HYDROLOGICKÝCH MÁP

Ľ. Solín: Some aspects of production of the hydrological maps. Geografický časopis, 53, 2001, 4, 29 refs.

The paper is aimed at definition of spatial and regional hydrological variability and analysis of methods of their mapping and cartographic representation. In conection with spatial hydrological variability, methods of mapping along the river system and across the territory of interest are reviewed and cartographic represenation by isolines and choropleth is disscused. In case of regional hydrological variability approaches to identification of regional units and ways of classifying the ungauged basins into regional units, are analysed.

Key words: spatial hydrological variability, regional hydrological variability, hydrological mapping, cartographic representation

BIOGEOGRAFICKÁ CHARAKTERISTIKA VODNEJ NÁDRŽE RONAVA

M. Kopecká, I. Ružek: Biogeographical analysis of the Ronava water reservoir. Geografický časopis, 53, 2001, 4, 2 figs., 1 tab., 17 refs.

The aim of the article is biogeographical analysis of the vegetation surrounding the Ronava water reservoir situated in the central part of the Trnava Loess Plain (Slovakia), which is an intensively man-impacted area. The following characteristics were evaluated: floristic and faunistic composition, physiognomy, life-forms, degree of synantropisation and selected profitability characteristics (melliferous potential, presence of medicinal herbs). We also tried to evaluate the ecosystem as a refuge of the law-protected plants and animals and to forecast its future.

Key words: wetlands, types of habitat, plant communities, life-form, synantropisation

PRÍSTUPY K HODNOTENIU ESTETICKEJ (VIZUÁLNEJ) KVALITY KRAJINY

I. Barčáková: Approaches to evaluation of the aesthetic (visual) quality of landscape. Geografický časopis, 53, 2001, 4, 39 refs.

The integrated approach in landscape research leans on the conception of landscape as a material and perceptual unity. Evaluation of the quality of visible objects in landscape and simultaneously evaluation of impression of the people who observe this landscape makes it possible to evaluate its aesthetic value. While evaluating the qualitative properties of landscape the problem of application of objective criteria of evaluation often appears. The paper deals with the methods existing in the landscape-ecological, socio-geographic research and in the sphere of territorial planning and creation of landscape, which are judged from the point of view of using the entry data and evaluating criteria, the way of presentation of obtained results and their application in practical life. The aim of the author was to enlighten the essence of objective and subjective approaches to the problem.

Key words: integrated landscape research, perceived landscape, aesthetic quality, objective and subjective approaches

MORFOMETRICKO-ŠTATISTICKÁ ANALÝZA KRAJINNEJ POKRÝVKY SLOVENSKA

K. Husár: Morphometric and statistical analysis of land cover of Slovakia. Geografický časopis, 53, 2001, 4, 6 tabs., 6 refs.

The aim of the paper is to contribute to the knowledge of land cover of Slovakia through morphometric and statistical analysis. The author concentrated on the basic morphometric and statistical parameters: the number of occurrence, area, circumference of areas, and the rate of affinity of the individual land cover (LC) classes at three hierarchic levels of regional typification. Apart from it, he also touched the questions of compactness, neighbourhood, islands and spatial arrangement of the LC classes. The data source used was the cartographic representation of 31 LC classes of Slovakia, defined in the sense of the CORINE Land Cover at scale 1:500 000, which was produced by generalization of the primary map at scale 1:100 000.

DVA POHĽADY NA NEOTEKTONICKÚ MAPU SLOVENSKA

J. Urbánek: Two views of The Neotectonic Map of Slovakia. Geografický časopis, 53, 2001, 4, 3 figs., 19 refs.

In 1999 The Neotectonic Map of Slovakia was published. It contains representations of fault networks identified by the geological methods. The study refers to the map and proposes the method of construction of geomorphologic grid – network of faults identified by geomorphologic methods. The relationship between the geomorphologic grid and fault network assessed by geological method is analysed. On the basis of high degree of coincidence of both networks it is obvious that many geomorphologic boundaries can be interpreted as faults and simultaneously the fault networks above all in mountain ranges can be condensed significantly.

NIEKOĽKO POZNÁMOK GEOMORFOLÓGA K NEOTEKTONICKEJ MAPE SLOVENSKA

J. Kvitkovič: Some comments of geomorphologist on The Neotectonic Map of Slovakia. Geografický časopis, 53, 2001, 4, 4 refs

The objective of this note is to provide some comments from the geomorphologic point of view on The Neotectonic Map of Slovakia published in 1999. The map, which covers only the recent 3.5 million years, informs on relative vertical movement tendencies of the tectonic blocks of the Western Carpathian and Pannonian Basin subsystems in the territory of the Slovak Republic. In the commentary a deficient geodynamic research of blocks and morphostructures of the subsystem of the Western Carpathians is pointed out. The cause is that the geological research methods of neotectonics used in the mountain areas are insufficient in comparison with their application on young subsidence in the subsystem of the Pannonian Basin. The necessity to apply all available methods of geo-scientific disciplines is emphasised.

Key words: neotectonics, morphotectonics, morphostructures, Western Carpathians
